Feng Shui Bathroom Tips
Bathrooms have a bad reputation in Feng Shui! Energy attaches to Water, and Water is associated with money in Feng Shui. Your bathroom is full of drains, pipes, and toilets. That is a lot of water going down and may be interpreted as flushing your prosperity away. With Feng Shui, there is always a remedy, and it is more than keeping the toilet seat down, which is still an excellent place to start!
In Feng Shui, we utilize the Five Elements to balance using both their constructive and deconstructive cycles. The goal is to use the Elements to our advantage and hang on to our prosperity. In the cycle, Wood is nourished by Water, and Earth contains water.
Here are some great ideas incorporating the Wood and Earth Elements:
- Use greens and soft beiges, avoid dark blues and blacks as there is enough of the water element in the room already.
- Add wood or bamboo framed mirrors, choose square or rectangular mirrors, bringing in more of the two Elements.
- Wood accessories!
- Use linen and cotton for towels bringing in more of the Wood Element.
- Woven baskets for storage, baskets are the Earth Element and “capture” the water. A great solution and low cost from Amazon! I also was featured in Bustle recommending this basket, simple great style!
- Use vertically hung art, rectangles and even square artwork.
- Your window treatments could be in soft tones, using ones with stripes to add more of the Wood Element.
- Add images, art, and patterns or prints of trees, plants, flowers.
- Add a plant! Every room in the house should have a plant!
Soft colors in the hues of green and browns create a sanctuary in your bathroom. Avoid dark blues and blacks in a bathroom as this room already has an excess of water.
There are so many ways to elevate the chi in your home with Feng Shui!
